Position Description

Base pay is influenced by several factors including a candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, and anticipated contributions to meet the needs of the business, along with internal pay equity and external market driven rates. The salary range displayed has not been adjusted for geographical location. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Capital Blue Cross at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The Accountant II prepares, analyzes, and reviews the general ledger, account reconciliations and financial statements for Capital Blue Cross and its affiliates, subject to GAAP and STAT rules.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Prepares general ledger subsidiary schedules, journals and work papers including balancing and posting.
  • Prepares accounting schedules, reconciliations, and supporting schedules to support internal reporting and internal and external audits.
  • Reviews own work for accuracy. Prepares forms and financial statements for statutory reporting.
  • Uses Workday as our primary ERP. May support special projects.
  • Provides support to periodic audits.
  • Prepares and maintains system documentation.

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with various departments as well as with department management personnel.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing work environment.
  • Basic to intermediate. analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team.

Knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of GAAP. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Experience:

  • 2 years of relevant accounting experience.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field or or additional 4 years of equivalent experience in lieu of degree

Location: 

  • This position is classified hybrid, which requires onsite work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. 


Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, and see.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 5 pounds.
