Position Description

Base pay is influenced by several factors including a candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, and anticipated contributions to meet the needs of the business, along with internal pay equity and external market driven rates. The salary range displayed has not been adjusted for geographical location. This role is responsible for providing consistent support, guidance, and resolution to Managers and Employees for a wide range of employee relations matters. This role plays a key part in promoting a positive work environment by supporting management and staff on HR policies, employee communication and engagement, handling workplace concerns, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and organizational policies.
This position will support the management of policies, programs, and procedures meant to foster positive relations between employees and the organization. This role will lead and resolve workplace matters through conflict resolution and/or disciplinary action adhering to company policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal regulations. This is a visible cross-functional position which works with all levels across the enterprise and requires a consultative and collaborative approach with strong drive for results and follow-through.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Serve as primary resource for employees and managers on employee relations issues of diverse scope. Lead investigations and resolve difficult and/or sensitive workplace matters by conducting thorough investigations into employee needs, workplace conflicts, or allegations of misconduct, and recommend appropriate actions ensuring a fair and consistent application of policies and procedures.
  • Interpret and advise on company policies, procedures, and employment laws. Work with Compliance, General Counsel, and senior leaders as necessary to develop appropriate positioning in relation to compliance risks and desired business outcomes. Stay current on employment law and employment law trends across the country.
  • Ensure compliance and minimize organizational risk by providing objective guidance and coaching on compliance with policies, performance, discipline, and workplace investigations.
  • Develop and maintain influential relationships with management to support talent outcomes that drive business goals and objectives.
  • Monitor people analytics and trends, and provide actionable insights into workforce items, employee engagement, retention, and other key performance metrics, driving data-driven decision-making.
  • Support the improvement of manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying issues, evaluating potential solutions, implementing selected solutions, and coaching and counseling managers and employees.
  • Support developing and delivering training programs for managers and employees on topics such workplace behavior, performance management, and policy updates.
  • Resolve employees’ questions either directly or indirectly.
  • Work collaboratively with other centers of excellence such as Human Resource Business Partners, Learning & Development, Leave Management, IT, and Safety and Security.
  • Work closely with the Employee Relations Manager to support the company through performance management, mitigating risk in legal compliance, employee communication, and collaboration with COEs. Partner with the manager on employee relations and safety issues and partner with the business to implement corrective action, as necessary and appropriate.
  • Develop and provide training on changes to labor laws, prevention of workplace issues, employee relations issues, external/internal trends, etc.
  • Work with internal and external counsel on third party claims including responses to attorney letters and government agencies (EEOC, DOL, State and/or Federal complaints).
  • Support HR initiatives and special projects as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws, compliance, and HR Best Practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills dealing with highly sensitive matters.
  • Ability to conduct and document sensitive investigations, while managing and resolving conflicts effectively.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential matters with compassion and equity.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism and diplomacy in interactions with all levels of the organization in a matrixed team environment and collaborating with others.
  • Excellent follow through skills and the ability to anticipate and address business needs proactively.
  • Team-oriented attitude balanced with ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain perspective, balance, and focus through challenge, uncertainty and change. Ability to work productively in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Decision making, strong problem solver, and critical thinking skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, with excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, derive insights, and take informed action.
  • Proficient in HRIS systems and MS Office Suite; experience with data analysis and reporting is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive HR experience with a focus on employee relations, conflict resolution, or HR compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting and documenting investigations and managing sensitive employee relations cases with discretion and professionalism.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
  • In addition, expertise in employee relations, labor laws, coaching, and conflict resolution, along with a strong ability to navigate complex issues and influence and guide individuals through challenging situations is preferred.

Location:

  • This position is classified hybrid, which requires onsite work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
