Position Description

Base pay is influenced by several factors including a candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, and anticipated contributions to meet the needs of the business, along with internal pay equity and external market-driven rates. The salary range displayed has not been adjusted for geographical location. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Capital Blue Cross at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The Project Manager must be able to manage large multi-faceted projects or multiple projects at the same time. The project manager organizes teams, develops plans, and facilitates project execution to achieve organizational goals. Successful project managers pay attention to detail, have excellent communication skills, raise issues and risks with transparency, are self-motivated, enjoy working closely with others, and are well organized. --Viewed by peers, management, and other members of the organization as a leader who continually adds value across the organization. Project Managers are expected to, run a variety of projects (small to very large), with a range of budget ($50,000 to multi -million dollars) and team sizes, across different areas of the organization with ease. Ability to see big picture and convert strategies into workable initiatives is critical to success. Project managers occasionally must turn troubled projects from red to green as well as train and mentor other less-experienced Project Managers.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Location: 

  • This position is classified hybrid, which requires onsite work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. 

Leadership:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (with proven ability to deliver reports and presentations)
  • ability to influence colleagues to build relationships; guide and inspire team members to deliver project work on time on budget, in accordance with internal guidelines and governance.
  • Ability to lead discussions with vague details or little direction with the expectation to identify ideal states and conduct gap analysis

Knowledge:

  • Project management (waterfall and agile) process, industry-specific knowledge of insurance is a plus.
  • Proficiencies in MS Office applications, MS Project, Visio, Adobe.
  • Stays abreast of current project management, insurance industry trends, and technology through professional associations, trade journals, networking, and associated training and seminars.

Skills:

  • Self-motivated, quick and assertive.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extremely detailed oriented and organized.
  • Ability to multi-task, and work under pressure in an ambiguous environment.
  • Remain comfortable with change and complexity in dynamic environments.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and shift readily between the “big picture” and small-but-critical details, knowing when to concentrate on each.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance people, process, and technology factors and analyze complex business relationships to develop appropriate solutions in a timely responsive nature.

Experience:

  • 5+ years industry experience (health insurance / project management); experience leading cross-functional teams required.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams strongly desired. Experience in progressive leadership roles in a corporate environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading significant initiatives requiring change management leadership desired.

Education, Certification, and Licenses:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Relevant professional certifications (PMP, SCRUM) preferred but not required.
